The Door County Miniatures series looks up at the stunning skylines of the Bay of Green and Lake Michigan, but also looks down at the micro world of mushrooms and mosses growing in the diverse local habitats.  All images are based on my original photography, and include scenes from Door County Land Trusts, Door County state parks and my own property, Lily Bay Creek Homestead.

 

Each painting is oil on birch panel, the smallest in the series measuring 3"x3" and the largest 14"x11", and they are each framed in hand selected vintage-antique ornate wood and gilt frames.  The combination of the small sized artworks in luxurious frames adds a sense of gem-like preciousness to these enchanting natural scenes, and expresses a sentiment of the preciousness of Door County's natural splendor.
